ASAP - Auto-Stop Air Pump

We started by studying how people use air pumps. We noted their frustrations, the sounds they make, the wait times, and the anxiety about overinflating. These observations influenced our design and engineering choices at every stage.

Our team developed a new electronic and firmware system centered around precise pressure sensors and smart control logic. The auto-stop feature reads air pressure in real time and shuts off when the optimal level is reached, with no settings needed and no worries.

We also considered form and function together. The elongated, minimal shape contains an axial impeller instead of a radial one. This design allows for a higher flow rate without extra bulk. Its ergonomic grip makes it easy to hold, and a flat edge ensures it doesn’t roll when stored. The structure is robust enough for outdoor use but sleek enough for home settings.

Staying true to our values, we focused on repairability and sustainability. There is no glue or permanent seals, just smart assembly using one type of screw. This way, every part can be reached, repaired, or recycled. We aimed for a product that honors both the user and the environment.

For the interface, we chose an OLED display for clarity and simplicity. It shows precise PSI readings, battery status, and remains visible in all lighting conditions. The supporting accessories were designed thoughtfully too: a twist-and-push nozzle system that fits various valve types, suitable for everything from kayaks to air mattresses.

From industrial design to firmware development, every detail was crafted, tested, and refined through multiple prototypes to achieve a balance between performance, usability, and design quality.
